ARIEL MELCHIOR SR. CELEBRATES 90TH BIRTHDAY

Ariel Melchior Sr., who co-founded the Daily News and owned it for 48 years, celebrated his 90th birthday Feb. 22.
He commemorated the milestone with family get-togethers over the weekend.
At 90 he continues to drive himself to his downtown Charlotte Amalie office each day, as he has done since he sold the Daily News to the Gannett Co. in 1978.
