On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

The 10th annual Beach to Beach Power Swim is set for Sunday on St. John and, with the entries capped at 300, time is running out to register. Last year, 283 swimmers raised $20,000.

Shooting Claims life of 18-year-old Vasheo Donastorg

According to police, Vasheo Donastorg was washing his car outside his home on Lime Street when shots rang out Monday evening, killing the 18-year-old. Police are urging anyone with information to call.

Rotary Sunrise Kids Triathlon Gives Finish Times

 Now in its third year, the Rotary Sunrise Kids Triathlon was held at Magens Bay on St Thomas. The “swim, bike, run” triathlon splits its participants into three age groups of 5-8, 9-11 and 12-15 year olds, which are also divided by gender. The youngsters can also compete in relays or as individuals.

V.I. Swimmers Do Well at CARIFTA Swimming Championships in Jamaica

 The Virgin Islands National Swim Team traveled on March 28 to April 3 to compete in the XXVIII CARIFTA (Caribbean Free Trade Association) Swimming Championships held at the National Stadium Pool in Kingston, Jamaica. The championships are a high-level, regional swim meet offered to English speaking Caribbean countries.
