Police ID Victim of Tuesday Shooting

Detectives identified the body of the man found fatally shot Tuesday in Upper Hidden Valley as 38-year-old Victor Manuel Otano Beltre, a native of the Dominican Republic.

No Record of Guns Confiscated by DPNR Cop Accused of Drug Smuggling

DPNR Enforcement Officer Roberto Tapia testified in March that he regularly confiscated boaters’ firearms but DPNR has no records at all of any firearms confiscated by Tapia.

V.I. Long Course Swimming Championships Winners Announced

 The Virgin Islands Long Course Swimming Championships were held at the Dolphins Pool on St. Croix this past weekend May 18-19. Forty four St. Croix Dolphins swimmers competed alongside 19 St. Thomas and St. John Stingrays.

Northside Sportfishing Club will hold its 25th Anniversary Bastille Day Kingfish Tournament on Sunday July 14, at Hull Bay Hideaway. The angler who reels in the largest kingfish will pocket $2000 in cash plus many other cash prizes. Also, everyone’s name will be entered into a special Silver Anniversary drawing where five lucky registered anglers will win $500 each.

VITFF Gives Results of Hounds & Foxes Track Club at Puerto Rico Meets

 The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation announces that the Hounds & Foxes has competed well in Puerto Rico. The Hounds & Foxes Track Club had an excellent showing in the Hershey Qualifier Track Meet in Puerto Rico and at the Copey Track Meet the following week, also in Puerto Rico.

Turbe Top Angler, Emanuel Top Boat in V.I. Game Fishing Club Derby

 The catch of a 34.49-pound dolphin (mahi-mahi) earned St. Thomas angler Tamika Turbe Top Angler and a $1,000 cash prize on May 5 at the Virgin Islands Game Fishing Club’s (VIGFC) Dolphin Derby.
