Junior Achievement of the Virgin Islands (JAVI) is recognizing outstanding volunteer participation for the 2011-2012 school year. Its programs were made possible by volunteers from many V.I. companies throughout the territory.

The2012 ADDY Awards Gala and Dinner, presented by the American Advertising Federation of the U.S. Virgin Islands, will be held at 7 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at Marriott’s Frenchman’s Reef Hotel, St.Thomas. 

The St. Thomas Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. presents the 2^nd annual Savor Delta Flavor Man Pot Cook-off from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, May 20.

AARP VI will be hosting three public conversations on Medicare and Social Security with seniors during the month of May as part of the Department of Human Services annual celebration of Older Americans Month.

The 9^th Annual V.I. Walk/Run Against Gun Violence will take place on Sunday, May20. Its purpose is to raise the consciousness of the community to the dangers of violence and to help raise money for a scholarship fund.

The Caribbean Education Initiative (CEI) will initiate the first Women Wise Conference on May 2-3 on both St. Thomas and St. John, in conjunction with Parent University and the St. Croix Department of Education Office of School Community Relations.
