The V.I. Department of Agriculture (VIDOA) has received funding in the amount of $77,791 to execute fiscal year (FY) 2017 Women, Infants and Children – Farmers’ Market Nutrition Program (WIC FMNP) in the U.S. Virgin Islands. WIC FMNP provides fresh, unprepared, locally-grown fruits and vegetables to women, infants (over 4 months old) and children that have been certified to receive WIC program benefits.
The VIDOA Marketing Division will host farmers’ market kick-off events in both districts to officially commemorate the launching of FY2017 WIC FMNP in the U.S. Virgin Islands. These events will facilitate the availability of locally-grown produce to WIC participants and the public.
