FAKE GUNS
Feb 16, 2010 - 12:02

Ilived on St. Thomas for 20 years and for a time I was the only FFL,(federal Firearms License)other than a detective service. There was an occasion when a police officer fired on a teenager who refused to 'drop the gun' he was holding. The officer was in court and I was called as an expert witness. I placed the teenagers "fake" gun and a real one of the same make and model in front of the Judge, and asked if he would pick out the real one without touching either one. He could not, and the case was dismissed.

Nice job. However, fake guns are easy to distinguished from an original one. The Supreme Court is again tackling the issue of gun control, and it appears they are in a bit of a deadlock. The constitutionality of a Chicago handgun ban has been challenged on Second Amendment grounds, and they are also weighing whether or not it could be legal for citizens to carry outside the home. The NRA would certainly never need payday loans if the ban is lifted. Public safety is certainly a concern, and though the impetus behind those who love to display their firearms publicly is decidedly Freudian, the reality is that criminals can get them anyway – so perhaps instead they should institute bullet control.
