Armed Robbers Take Boater's Backpack

A man walking toward his boat moored at the Yacht Haven Grande marina was robbed at gunpoint early Sunday. The thieves took off with hundreds of dollars in cash and equipment, according to the V.I. Police Department.

Police on St. Thomas said the victim, whose name was not released, was walking toward his yacht in the marina when he was approached by two men who pointed guns at him and took his backpack.

The victim was not harmed.

Police were called to the marina just before 4 a.m. Sunday to investigate.

The victim told police the suspects ran off after taking his backpack that contained a silver iPad, a silver iPod, an iPhone 5, $350 in cash and other personal items.

This case will be followed up by detectives from the criminal investigation bureau.
