Police Investigate Two Robberies

Two robberies that occurred Thursday at separate locations are being investigated on St. Thomas, according to the V.I. Police Department.

One robbery happened on the basketball court in Hospital Ground and the other occurred inside the bus shanty near the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

According to police, a third-degree robbery occurred about 5:15 a.m. The 64-year-old victim told officers he was sleeping on the ground of the bus shanty when an unknown man struck him at least three times in his stomach, then took $65 that was in his pants pocket.

The victim was unable to identify the suspect.

At about 2:15 p.m. Thursday, a man reported that his iPad, valued at $450, was taken while he was on the bleachers near the basketball court. The 17-year-old victim told police two men came up behind him, choked him and took his device.

He said he could not see the suspects who were behind him.

Criminal Investigation Bureau detectives are following up both cases.
