St. Thomas Man Shot in Leg

A man was shot in the left calf while walking in the Hospital Ground area, according to the V.I. Police Department.

The victim, whose name was not released by the VIPD, was struck by at least one bullet, for which he was treated at the Schneider Regional Medical Center.

Police said they were notified of the incident about 8:15 p.m. Sunday and interviewed the victim at the hospital. The victim told officers he did not see who shot him and did not know why someone would shoot at him, according to the report. The man said when he heard the shots being fired he ran and later realized that he had been shot.

He flagged down a vehicle and got a ride to the hospital where he was treated and released.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Bureau are investigating this case.
