One man on St. Thomas was shot and another robbed in two incidents being investigated by police. One man was arrested in the robbery.
According to police, a man on St. Thomas told officers he was robbed of $12,500 at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday near Murphy Gade.
The victim told police that he was using the cash to buy a car. He and a friend were counting the cash inside a car on Murphy Gade, he told police, when a man wearing a black bandana over his face and carrying a handgun approached them and demanded the money.
Police arrested 28-year-old Jameson Hodge at about 1:50 p.m. the same day after he was allegedly identified as the person who took the victim’s money at gunpoint.
Hodge was placed on a $75,000 bail and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his court appearance.
Police also reported that at 1:35 a.m. Sunday a man walked into the Roy L. Schneider Hospital with a gunshot wound in the palm of his left hand.
The 33-year-old victim told police he could not answer any questions because the doctors had given him medication. Doctors told police the wound seems to be self-inflicted. The investigation is ongoing.
