One Man Shot, Another Robbed in Separate Incidents

One man on St. Thomas was shot and another robbed in two incidents being investigated by police. One man was arrested in the robbery.

According to police, a man on St. Thomas told officers he was robbed of $12,500 at about 11:45 a.m. Saturday near Murphy Gade.

The victim told police that he was using the cash to buy a car. He and a friend were counting the cash inside a car on Murphy Gade, he told police, when a man wearing a black bandana over his face and carrying a handgun approached them and demanded the money.

Police arrested 28-year-old Jameson Hodge at about 1:50 p.m. the same day after he was allegedly identified as the person who took the victim’s money at gunpoint.

Hodge was placed on a $75,000 bail and remanded to the custody of the Bureau of Corrections pending his court appearance.

Police also reported that at 1:35 a.m. Sunday a man walked into the Roy L. Schneider Hospital with a gunshot wound in the palm of his left hand.

The 33-year-old victim told police he could not answer any questions because the doctors had given him medication. Doctors told police the wound seems to be self-inflicted. The investigation is ongoing.
