Ninfa Barnard Wins Southwestern Cross-Country Championship

V.I. National Track and Field Team Member Ninfa Barnard, a junior at the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff, won the 2011 SWAC Cross-Country Championship held on Monday in Clinton, Mississippi, according to a press release from The Virgin Islands Track and Field Federation.
Barnard defeated a field of 60 plus runners from nine colleges. Her time was 18:09 over 5 kilometers (3.1 miles), a personal best.
Banard is a graduate of the St. Croix Educational Complex High School. She competed in high school with the St. Croix Track Club and is still a member. After a busy athletic year when she ran cross-county, indoor track and field, the World University Games, the CAC Senior Championships, she posted a personal best performance and won a championship. She is also an academic honors student.
