On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

Hurricane Impacts V.I. Cruise Ship Schedules

Several cruise ships canceled visits to St. Thomas due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy on the U.S. East Coast, the West Indian Co. said in a statement Monday.

The Jewel of the Seas, slated to call Thursday on St. Thomas, will instead call from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. However, the Norwegian Sun will call as scheduled from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday.

The Carnival Miracle canceled its Friday visit, and the Norwegian Gem will not call as planned on Saturday.

The West Indian Co. said it would pass along information about other cancelations as it becomes available.
