TURNBULL NAMES, NOMINATES EDA BOARD

March 24, 2001 – Gov. Charles W. Turnbull announced he has named the seven members of the Economic Development Authority. The newly created authority restructures the Industrial Development Commission.
Five members do not need legislative approval. They are Kent Bernier, the governor's assistant for economic policy, Willis Todmann, assistant administrator for the Government Employees Retirement System, Dean Plaskett, commissioner of Planning and Natural Resources, Louis Willis, director of the Internal Revenue Bureau, and former Sen. Mary Ann Pickard.
The two nominees requiring legislative approval are Craig W. Barshinger, a computer consultant and marine biologist who is active with the Environmental Association of St. Thomas-St. John, and Ronald W. Belfon, an attorney in private practice and a hearing officer and mediator with the Education Department.
Turnbull submitted Barshinger's and Belfon's names to Senate President Almando "Rocky" Liburd on Thursday.
