The Virgin Islands Bureau of Internal Revenue has received the 2011 Form W-2VIs, and they are available at the bureau’s offices on all three islands. Employers are reminded to make a written request for W-2VIs, including the Employer Identification Number and the amount of W-2VIs requested. BIR provides the form needed to request the W-2Vis, which is available at the bureau’s offices and on its Web site: www.viirb.com, according to a press release from BIR issued on Friday.
“It is unfortunate that we have to require written requests, but the Bureau has received a number of fraudulent W-2VIs within the past several years,” Claudette Watson-Anderson, director of BIR, said.
Watson-Anderson reminds all Virgin Islands employers that they are required to provide Form W-2VI for employment in 2011 to every employee by Jan. 31.
