District Issues Orientation Schedules for Junior and Senior High Schools/Cancryn School Revised

Superintendent for the St. Thomas-St. John District Jeanette Smith-Barry has announced important dates and orientation schedules for district public junior and senior high schools in anticipation of the 2010-2011 school year:

Ivanna Eudora Kean High SchooI
Identification photo(s) will be taken as follows:
Ninth graders (It is mandatory that all ninth graders report for ID photos)
Wednesday, August 18 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.—-Last names beginning with A-H
Thursday, August 19 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.—-Last names beginning with I-P
Friday, August 20 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. —-Last names beginning with R-Z
All 10th, 11th and 12th Graders on Monday, August 23 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
Orientations will be held as follows:
Tuesday, August 24 from 3 – 5 p.m. – 12th Grade
Wednesday, August 25 from 3-5 p.m. – New 9th Graders and Repeating 9th Graders
Thursday, August 26 from 3 – 5p.m. – 10th Graders
Friday, August 27 from 3 – 5 p.m. – 11th Graders
Charlotte Amalie High School
All students, new and returning, can pay fees, take ID photos, and present immunization information beginning on August 16th though the 18th in order to expedite matters and avoid delays during orientation. The schedule is as follows:
All new 9th graders will report to take photographs for their school identification cards according to the first letter of the last name. Students must wear the uniform shirt.
Monday, August 16 at 8 a.m. – Last names A-F and at Noon – Last names G-M
Tuesday, August 17 at 8 a.m. – Last names N-S and at Noon – Last names T-Z
Wednesday, August 18 at 8 a.m. — All returning students who require a permanent school ID.
In an effort to expedite matters and avoid delays during orientation, students (new and returning) are encouraged to use these three days to present a photocopy of their updated immunization record and be able to pay the following fees: $15 for ID, $15 for school accident insurance, $10 for PTSA dues, and $5 for an assignment book – 9th graders only. Students who do not wish to purchase accident insurance must present a photocopy of an insurance card (front and back) on which they are covered.

Orientation and class schedule distribution will take place at Charlotte Amalie High School on August 23, 24, and August 30, 2010 in the school’s Ruth E. Thomas Auditorium. Students must report in proper school uniform accompanied by their parents according to the outlined schedule. Attendance is mandatory!
Monday, August 23at 8 a.m. – All 9th graders with last names A-L
Noon – All 9th graders with last names M-Z
Tuesday, August 24 at 8 a.m. – All 10th graders
Noon – All 11th graders
Monday, August 30 at 8 a.m. – All 12th graders
All students must have attended orientation, and received a schedule and permanent school ID in order to attend classes on the first day of school, Monday, August 30. Returning students are reminded that all outstanding obligations must be paid before they can receive a schedule.
Addelita Cancryn Junior High School
Orientation will be held on the following dates:
Wednesday August 25 at 1:30 p.m. – 8th graders
Friday August 27 at 8 a.m. – 7th graders, last names A-H
Friday August 27 at 11 a.m. – 7th graders, last names I-Z
Students attending orientation must bring a copy of their updated immunization card to orientation and be fully attired in the school’s uniform.
All students who attended orientation will report for a full day of instruction on Monday, August 30.
Students who are unable to attend the originally scheduled orientation sessions will report to school for orientation on Wednesday, September 1, at 9 a.m. in the school cafeteria.
Bertha C. Boschulte Middle School
Mandatory orientation sessions have been scheduled for all students as follows:
Wednesday, August 25 at 5:30 p.m. – 6th grade
Thursday, August 26 at 5:30 p.m. – 7th grade
Friday, August 27 at 5:30 p.m. – 8th grade
Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian and dressed in full uniform. Parents must be prepared to complete a parent compact form and an emergency information form, and submit a copy of their child’s immunization card before schedules are distributed. In addition, be prepared to make payments for school insurance, IDs and physical education uniforms.
