Air Force Airman Anthony M. Peters/St. Thomas
Jan. 7, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air Force Airman Anthony M. Peters graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.
Peters is the son of Paulette Peters of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Army National Guard Pvt. Shana T. Alexander/St. Croix
Jan. 7, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Shana T. Alexander has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values. She received instruction and practice in physical fitness, basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Mortimer Alexander of Profit Hill, Kingshill, U.S. Virgin Islands.
The private is a 2008 graduate of St. Croix Central High School, Kingshill.
Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Genevieve S. Liburd/St. Croix
Jan. 7, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Staff Sgt. Genevieve S. Liburd has deployed to the U.S. Naval Base, Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, to serve as a member of Joint Task Force-GTMO in support of Operation Enduring Freedom and/or Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Servicemembers from all branches of the U.S. armed forces are involved in a joint-military operation whose mission is to conduct safe, humane care and custody of detained enemy combatants, and to conduct interrogation operations to collect strategic intelligence. The mission is also to ensure and support coordination among government agencies involved in the detention of suspected terrorists.
Liburd graduated in 1988 from St. Croix Central High School, U.S. Virgin Islands, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2004 from the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Croix.

She is the sister of Tifani L. Ramsey of Smith Bay, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
The private is a 2008 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.

Jan. 20, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Nadia Nibbs has graduated from the Automated Logistical Specialist Advanced Individual Training (AIT) course at the U.S. Army Quartermaster Center and School, Fort Lee, Petersburg, Virginia.
The course is designed to train soldiers to establish and maintain stock records and other documents such as inventory, materiel control, accounting and support reports, automated and manual accounting records; perform stock record/warehouse functions pertaining to receipt, storage, distribution and issue and maintain equipment records and parts; review and verify bills of lading, contracts, and purchase orders; repair and construct shipping crates for equipment and supplies, and perform prescribed loads and shop stock lists in manual and automated supply applications.
She is the daughter of Carina Nibbs of Frederiksted, St. Croix, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Nibbs is a 2006 graduate of the St. Croix Educational Complex, Kingshill, Virgin Islands.
Army Pvt. Kailem J. Conow/St.Thomas
Jan. 20, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Pvt. Kailem J. Conow has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
He is the son of Bridget Conow of Estate Frydenhoj, St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

Warner is an operations noncommissioned officer in charge assigned to the 786th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion based in St. Thomas, Virgin Islands. He has served in the military for 27 years.
He is the son of Christina D. Warner of Smith Bay, St. Thomas.
The sergeant received an associate degree in 1992 from Central Texas College, Killeen, Texas.
Army Maj. Sally F. Peay/St. Thomas
Jan. 26, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Maj. Sally F. Peay has graduated from the Army drill cadet leadership course.
The prime objective of the course is to provide third-year cadets the opportunity to develop leadership abilities through realistic and practical experience by performing the duties of a noncommissioned or junior commissioned officer.
The academy is the nation’s oldest service academy. Each year more than 4,000 men and women are enrolled in the four-year educational institution, which is charged with the task of providing the nation with leaders of character who serve the common defense. Upon graduation cadets receive a bachelor’s degree and a commission in the U.S. Army.
Peay has served in the military for 20 years. She is the daughter of Desmond and Yola Simmonds of Temple St., St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
The major graduated in 1983 from Charlotte Amalie High School and earned a master’s degree from the University of the Virgin Islands, both on St. Thomas.

Browne, a development group officer with the 786th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion based in Christiansted, Virgin Islands. He has served in the military for 22 years.
He is the son of Rosaling C. Browne of Estate Whim, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands.
The major graduated in 1986 from Central High School, Kingshill, Virgin Islands, and received a bachelor’s degree in 1990 from the University of the Virgin Islands, Kingshill.
