June 24, 2010 – Army Pvt. 2 Flavel D. Blyden graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Knox, Kentucky, on June 17. During the nine-week training period, the trainee received instruction in drill and ceremony, weapons, rifle marksmanship and bayonet training, chemical warfare, field training and tactical exercises, armed and unarmed combat, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, traditions, and core values. Pvt. 2 Blyden is currently assigned to Fort Leonard Wood, Waynesville, Missouri, for Advanced Individual Training.
The soldier is the son of Cheryl and Flavel Blyden of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.

June 24, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Spec. Kimika N. Woods has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Elza Woods of Estate Nazareth, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Woods graduated in 2003 from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from the University of the Virgin Islands, St. Thomas.
Army National Guard Pvt. Brooke M. Benton/St. Croix
June 24, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Brooke M. Benton has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill, Lawton, Oklahoma.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission and received instruction and training exercises in drill and ceremonies, Army history, core values and traditions, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, rifle marksmanship, weapons use, map reading and land navigation, foot marches, armed and unarmed combat, and field maneuvers and tactics.
She is the daughter of Ingrid Benton of Estate Whim, Frederiksted, Virgin Islands.
Benton is a 2003 graduate of St. Croix Educational Complex, Frederiksted.

June 24, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Pvt. Dustin L. Chung has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
He is the son of Louin Chung of Wintberg Heights, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Chung is a 2005 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Yvonne Hughes of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, and niece of Dahlia Hendricks of Kopek Court, Hampton, Va.
Jackson is a 2003 graduate of Charlotte Amalie High School, St. Thomas.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and he received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
Benjamin is the son of Natalie Smalls and grandson of Terry Brunn of Wintberg Heights, both of St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Army National Guard Pvt. Jevon J. Samuel/St. Thomas
July 4, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Pvt. Jevon J. Samuel has graduated from basic infantry training at Fort Benning, Columbus, Ga.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier received training in drill and ceremonies, weapons, map reading, tactics, military courtesy, military justice, physical fitness, first aid, and Army history, core values and traditions. Additional training included development of basic combat skills and battlefield operations and tactics, and experiencing use of various weapons and weapons defenses available to the infantry crewman.
He is the son of Juliana Charles of Estate Smith Bay, Charlotte Amalie, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Samuel is a 2009 graduate of Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, Charlotte Amalie.

Army National Guard Spec. Michael V. Camacho/St. Croix
July 4, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army National Guard Spec. Michael V. Camacho is returning to the U.S. after a deployment to Iraq or Afghanistan in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom or Enduring Freedom, respectively.
The soldiers return to Fort Dix, N.J. for debriefing, evaluations and out-processing procedures before returning to their regularly assigned Army Reserve or National Guard units.
Camacho, a public affairs print specialist, is assigned to the 139th Mobile Public Affairs Detachment located at Camp Lincoln, Springfield, Ill.
He is the son of Victor M. and Michelle C. Camacho of Castle Coakley, Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Army Spec. Marjorie A. Moorehead/St. Croix
July 4, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Army Spec. Marjorie A. Moorehead has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C.
During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and she received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
She is the daughter of Hugo Moorehead and Marjorie Drummond-Moorehead of Catherine’s Rest, Kingshill, U. S. Virgin Islands.
The specialist graduated in 2006 from St. Croix Central High School, Christiansted, U.S. Virgin Islands, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2010 from Johnson and Wales University, Miami, Fla.
Air Force Reserve Airman 1st. Class Kia G. ChapmanAir Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Kia G. Chapman/St. Thomas
July 5, 2010 (Joint Hometown News Service) – Air Force Reserve Airman 1st Class Kia G. Chapman graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.
Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Chapman earned distinction as an honor graduate.
She is the daughter of Gayle Christopher of Anna’s Retreat, and Rudolph Chapman, both of St. Thomas, Virgin Islands.
Chapman graduated in 2002 from Ivanna Eudora Kean High School, St. Thomas, and received a bachelor’s degree in 2008 from Central Connecticut State University, New Britain.

During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values and physical fitness. He received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches and field training exercises.
He is the son of Rosemund Thomas of Estate Fortuna, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands.
Thomas graduated in 2008 from the Day Adult Education Centre, St. Thomas.
Air Force Airman Michele A. Moses/St. John
