Cheryl P. Franklin Named Dean of Nursing at UVI

Aug. 13, 2008 – Dr. Cheryl P. Franklin, doctor of nursing science, has been named the University of the Virgin Islands' dean of nursing. She began work on July 28. Her main office will be located on the St. Croix campus.
Franklin has served the New Orleans area of Louisiana for over three decades as a registered nurse in clinical practice and as an educator in the field of nursing. She began her teaching career as a clinical instructor at the Charity Hospital School of Nursing in New Orleans and later served at Our Lady of the Lake School of Nursing in Baton Rouge and at Dillard University. The new dean has also served as an associate professor, level coordinator, director of the Associate of Science Nursing Program, and lastly as the assistant dean for the College of Nursing and Allied Health at Nicholls State University at Thibodaux, La.
