VING Family Program Celebrates Military Family Month Events

In celebration of Military Family Month, the Virgin Islands National Guard (VING) Family Program Office is hosting territorial events in November to show appreciation for the military family. While the VING and the V.I. community are honoring military families, they are also being recognized on a national level. Events are planned for military families and beneficiaries.
In a presidential proclamation, President Barack Obama called on Americans to honor the military family for the sacrifices they make to keep us free. The president wrote, “I call on all Americans to honor military families through private actions and public service for the tremendous contributions they make in the support of our service members and our nation.
The V. I. National Guard Family Program will host events on both St. Croix and St. Thomas throughout the month of November:
On St. Croix:
Friday, Nov. 11- Veterans Day parade pot luck on Frederiksted Beach immediately after the Veterans Day activities.
Monday, Nov. 14 - Family Fun Night will include roller skating, poetry and karaoke at Malibu Fun Spot 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Sunday, Nov. 27 -Sun Down Service at Budhoe Park in Frederiksted from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The event will include spiritually enriching performances.
Military family Month events on St. Thomas are:
Friday, Nov 11 - Veterans Day Parade and Food Sale in the Fort Christian Parking Lot on the Waterfront from 10 a.m. until.
Friday, Nov 18 - Movie Night at Market Square East Theater
Sunday, Nov 20 - Church service at Frederick Evangelical Lutheran Church 9 a.m.
