Elizabeth McIver Davis Dies in North Carolina

Elizabeth McIver Davis Elizabeth McIver Davis, 92, of St. Thomas has died. “Bette” Davis, daughter of Elliott and Caroline McIver, and loving wife of Joe Davis, died on Nov. 5 at Beystone Health and Rehabilitation in Hendersonville, N.C., after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.
She is survived by two sons: Jody and Mac Davis of St. Thomas; daughter, Cameron Ellison of Hendersonville; eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Davis was a journalist (her columns “Bette’s Buy Lines” and “A Touch of Sun” appeared in the Virgin Islands Daily News for many years during the 60s and 70s) and an artist. She also enjoyed cultivating orchids.
A memorial service will be announced. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in her name to Four Seasons Compassion for Life, 571 South Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC 28731 or the Humane Society of St. Thomas.
