Walter Vanterpool Dies at 67

Walter Vanterpool

Walter Vanterpool, better known as “Doggie,” died on Saturday, Sept. 29, at his residence. He was 67 years old.
He is survived by his siblings: Eleanor Mitchell, Antonio Vanterpool Sr., Shirley Lans, Leo Vanterpool, Earl Vanterpool, Dean Vanterpool, Judith Vanterpool Greene-Smith, Stephanie Vanterpool and Clyde Vanterpool; sisters-in-law: Marjorie “Susie” Vanterpool, Ione Vanterpool, Mary Vanterpool, Sylvia Vanterpool and Paulina Vanterpool; brother-in-law, Liston Lans; uncles: James Callwood, Allan Callwood and Edwardo Vanterpool; aunts: Mary Callwood and Ena Callwood; special friends: Marmion Carty, Henry Lawes, Herbert Carty, Elroy “Pinochey,” Edith “Sally” Vanterpool Carr-Allen, Lucy Kathy Freeman and Andy Christopher; as well as many other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 19, at Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A second viewing will take place at 9 a.m. and a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 20, at Wesley Methodist Church. Interment will be at Western Cemetery No. 1.
