On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

Cecil Norford Dies at 78

 

Cecil Norford died on June 12 at his residence. He was 78 years old.
He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Norford; sons: Derrick, Melvin, Frederick, Glenville, David, Derwin and Phillip; daughters: Paula Norford-Edwards and Beverly Norford; special cousins, the Bass family; grandchildren: Carl and Carmen Webbe, Simone and Shenise Edwards, Cyndic and Gary Norford Shanedelle, Lydia and Jehran Norford, Natasha Norford, Danielle Norford, Dylon Norford, Devon Norford, Kendall Norford, Khishy Norford, Leon Norford, Isaiah Norford, Jamadie Norford; great-grandchildren: Catalina “Cathy,” Tijuania and Gevonte; great-great grandchildren: Kevin and Kymany; son-in-law, Alcede Edwards; daughters-in-law: Cynthia, Andrea and Jennifer Norford; special friends: Neville and Mary Lee; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a first viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Monday, June 25, at Davis Funeral Home. A second viewing will take place at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, June 26, at First Wesleyan Holiness Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, send donations to La Paz Hospice or Charlotte Kimelman Cancer Institute.
All arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home, 774-1464.
