On Thursday, April 25, the St. Thomas community was enjoying J'Ouvert when the celebration was shattered by gunshots which injured three people. Public safety officials immediately canceled the remainder of J'Ouvert.

Shooting Claims life of 18-year-old Vasheo Donastorg

According to police, Vasheo Donastorg was washing his car outside his home on Lime Street when shots rang out Monday evening, killing the 18-year-old. Police are urging anyone with information to call.

Gerald A. Jackson Jr. Dies

Gerald A. Jackson Jr., better known as “Jerry,” died on May 26.
He is survived by his father, Gerald Anthony Jackson Sr.; mother, Joan Van Holten; stepmother, Donna Jackson; sister, Tiffany George; grandfather, David Alijandro Van Holten Sr.; grandmother, June Nibbs Van Holten; godmothers: Ms. Dally David and Cynthia Lockhart; godfather, Barymore Christian; uncles:      Milton, Michael, Americus, Joseph, Lloyd and James Jackson, Rev. David Alijandro Jr., Andrian, Jermaine, Shimoi, and Kelly Van Holten, Salino, Almando, Esa, and George Van Holten, and Romeo Huntt; aunts:   Merle Jackson, Charles, Maureen Jackson, Marjorie Jackson Wheatley, I’aesha Van Holten Stanton, Jacqueline Van Holten, Kim Van Holten, Tia Marie Van Holten-Williams, and Tara Olive, Lattie-Mae Van Holten Lockhart, Willa-Mae Van Holten, Alicia Van Holten Moleenar, Idona Huntt, Jacqueline Van Holten White, Iona Nibbs Williams, Deloris Nibbs Daniels, Anona Nibbs and Mona Nibbs; special friends: Alik Briggo, Aubrey Benjamin, Smokey Frett, Jr. and Joshua Rojas; and many cousins and friends too many to mention.      
A first viewing will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, June 15, at Turnbull's Funeral Home. A second viewing will take place at 8:30 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 16, at Lutheran Reformation Church. Interment will be at Eastern Cemetery, Smith Bay.
Funeral arrangements are by Turnbull's Funeral Home.
