Three events are slated for the opening of the school year – V.I. Fathers Back to School Barbecue and Fun Day on Saturday, Aug. 27; the Back to School Days of Prayer on Saturday , Sept. 3, and Sunday, Sept. 4; and the V.I. Fathers March on Sept. 6, the first day of school for public schools in the territory. Organizers are encouraging fathers to take their children back to school starting on the first day.

Josephine Marie Richardson Dies at 98

 

Josephine Marie "Fifine" Richardson died Feb. 21 at Schneider Regional Medical Center. She was 98.
She is survived by sons: Herman, Celeste, Marius, Elmo, Allan, Leslie, Henry, Raymond, Gerald and Stephen Richardson; daughters-in-law: Monika, Jean, Chelsea, Melinda, Judith, Irene, Patricia and Theresa; grandchildren: John, Peter, Paul, Martin, H. Alexander, Mark, Julie, Carol, Peter, Eric, Michael, Paul, Edward, Joanne, Giselle, Cyril, Judith, Neal, Leslie, Teneka, Cindy, Jay, Yvette, Yvonne, Jeanette, Michael, Monique, Lisa, Sunel, Tova, Stephen Jr., Dawn, Chelsea, Tessa and Dior; and 46 great-grandchildren.
She is also survived by nieces: Sonia Duzant, Daniella Turbe, Sheila Hoftyzer, Carol Laban, Edna Duzant and Sheila Asciani; special nieces: Norma Duzant and Melicent Gagliani; nephews: Franklin Richardson, Glen Richardson, Herman Richardson, Irvin Richardson, Irvin Mingo, Leo Richardson, Rudolph Richardson, Pierre Beauperthuy and Henry Duzant; special friends: Agnes Martin, Sylvia Olive, Theresa Defreitas, Jeanne Larmony, Irmis Duzant, Franklin Stewart and Eleanor Schulterbrandt; families: the Richardsons, Mingos, Gumbs, Duzants, Hodges, Beauperthuys, Tacklins, Larmonys and Bernettes.
There will be a viewing held from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, at the Davis Funeral Home Chapel. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, March 2, at St. Anne's Church, followed by interment at Western Cemetery No. 2.
