Jesse A. Smalls, better known as “Jah-Iver,” or Contant No. 55 died on Aug. 22. He was 31 years old.
He is survived by his mother, Astrid Benjamin; father, Leonard A. Smalls Jr.; wife, Onicka Smalls; son, Jahniya Smalls; mother-in-law, Claudette Francis; brother, Jeremy Smalls; sister, Jennel Smalls; aunts: Lucinda Davis, Evangeline Wells, Lillian Brookes, Joyce, Sonia, Luna and Lydia Graham; and uncles: Kenneth Benjamin Jr., Eric Smalls, Franklyn Graham and Leroy Sewer Sr. He is also survived by brother-in-law, Justin Francis; sisters-in-law: Dianthe Smalls and Shermel Joseph; great uncles: Lester, Leal and Van Burn Van Beverhoudt; and cousins: Aubrey Jr. and Seymour Dawson, LaKenya and Kenyon Benjamin. Other survivors include aunts-in-law: Luz, Rubye and Eleanor Van Beverhoudt; nephews: Merkel Smalls Jr. and Cameron O’Neal; nieces: Shekel, Anesha, Adrianna, and Alexandria Smalls; and other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.
There will be a viewing held from 8:30-10:30 a.m., on Saturday, Sept. 19, at Nisky Moravian Church. A funeral service will follow at 10:30 a.m. at the church. Interment will be held at Western Cemetery No. 2.
