The Media Got It Wrong

Dear Source:
As one of the longest serving Board members in the STT/STJ District (Chairperson Alecia Wells, STT/STJ is the other member) my experiences with the voting process is invaluable. I have worked with a great number of Board members over the last 11 years. One of my many objectives as I worked thru my responsibilities was to assist as many registered and unregistered voters as possible. I find myself once again writing to correct an inaccuracy reported by the media, during the last Joint Board Meeting held Tuesday July 12th. Instead of the media focusing on Member Bryan attempts to keep the meeting open to the public (which includes the media), so everyone knows what is going on they chose to focus on the disruptive behavior of some members of the Board which resulted in the meeting being adjourn. I guess the media felt that Member Bryan causing a disturbance would sell more papers or get more hits on line. Shame on the media as they often put what "they" want in circulation. The truth is your STX Administrator (Member Dodson James) was the one cursing the "F" and "M F" words not Bert Bryan. Your Angel STX Administrator who represents the Governor at various meetings was the one who belittle himself and brooked with appropriate decorum causing the stenographer to leave. Nothing was mentioned in any of the Media outlets about Mr. Dodson James cursing or the lack of Leadership by Joint Board Chair Ruport Ross to gather everyone together to bring the Body to order and refocus on the objectives of the meeting. Further, as of Friday, Member Dodson James, the STX Administrator, has not apologized for his behavior. Although he has apologized to Board Member Ms. Alecia Wells (Chairperson STT/STJ district), an apology is due to the Joint Board in session, or by mass e-mailing to them and others in attendance. Member Dodson James should be ashamed of his behavior being brother to Senator James and being appointed by the DeJongh /Francis Administration to be a STX Administrator.
I would like to suggest to Board member James that the reflect on his behavior and develop appropriate remedy(s) to fix the damaged he caused. It’s called Restorative Justice. Didn’t Member Dodson James brother, Senator Neville James, not assist last year to sanction Senator Positive Nelson for comments about another Senator? Maybe Senator James should talk to his brother about how to act in Board Meetings. Is Member Dodson James’ behavior, characteristic of what the Virgin Island Community should expect when, while representing the Governor, someone in the audience makes a statement that Member Dodson James does not like.
The Media loves Bert Bryan because he sells papers, and gets hits on line but it is very discouraging that the media got it wrong, or "did the media know the truth but decided not to print it" !!!!!
