VITEMA All Hazards Preparedness Expo Set for Oct. 23 - 24

The Virgin Islands Territorial Emergency Management Agency (VITEMA) will hold its 2015 Annual All Hazards Preparedness Expo this month, featuring first responder demonstrations, family fun and entertainment, and information and handouts from local, federal and private sector representatives on how to be ready when disaster strikes.
The expo is part of VITEMA’s ongoing education campaign to raise awareness about disaster preparedness and recovery.

Federal Universal Service Charge Rate Change Effective Oct. 1

As a result of action taken by the Federal Communications Commission that affects carriers nationwide, Innovative Telephone, Innovative Wireless and Innovative Long Distance customers will notice an increase in the Federal Universal Service charge effective Oct. 1.
The Federal Universal Service Charge (FUSC) Surcharge Factor recovers the costs associated with Innovative Telephone’s contributions to the federal universal fund program. The government-mandated program is designed to help keep telephone service rates affordable for all customers, in all areas of the United States. Effective Oct. 1, there will be an increase in the charge from 14.40 percent to 15.30 percent. This increase will also affect subscribers of Innovative Wireless, Innovative Long Distance and other wireless and long distance carriers respectively.
Customers with questions regarding this notice should contact the Innovative Business Office at 779-9999. Innovative’s Business Office hours are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. weekdays and 8 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
