Rockstein Launches New Photo Classes at Fstop Gallery

National award-winning photographer Steve Rockstein is offering classes for beginner, intermediate and advanced photographers. First class starts Tuesday, April 3, at Fstop Gallery in Tillett Gardens on St. Thomas.
“The beginners’ class is perfect for anyone who has recently purchased a DSLR, looked at all the buttons and wondered how to use them,” Rockstein said. “The 10-week program is designed to take your through every aspect of your camera, learning which controls are ‘set-and-forget’ and which one’s you need to use every time you take a picture.”
Beyond understanding the camera, the class also exposes students to the work of great photographers, some famous and others obscure, with the goal of learning the language of photography.
“We learn to see and we learn how to speak about what we see. No longer are we bound to describe a photo as ‘pretty’ or simply say ‘I like it’ or not. We learn to see composition, lighting, exposure choices and much more. At the end of 10-weeks, my students learn not only how to use their camera but how to see like a professional photographer sees.”
Beginners meet on Tuesdays, 7-9 p.m.. Advanced class is held Thursdays 7-9 p.m.. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per class. Cost for the 10-week program is $250. Private coaching for advanced amateurs and professional photographers is also available.
