Pistarckle Theater Presents the 6th Annual Vento Shakespeare Festival

“All the world’s a stage and all the men and women merely players.” Pistarckle Theater’s Annual Vento Shakespeare Festival takes place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, April 23, at the Bertha C. Buschulte Auditorium. Teachers from all over the territory are collaborating with their students to perform scenes from one of William Shakespeare’s plays. The 2012 Shakespeare Festival includes a troupe from Pearl B. Larsen Elementary of St. Croix, Ulla F. Muller Elementary, V.I. Montessori School — International Baccalaureate and Pistarckle Theater.
“There are more things in heaven and earth, Horatio, than are dreamt of in your philosophy.” This year the event will be facilitated by Andrew Neiman, a professional, Chicago-based Shakespearean actor, playwright, screenwriter and educator. He has worked extensively with both St. Louis Shakespeare and Shakespeare Festival St. Louis and performed at The Connecticut Repertory Theatre. Neiman holds a B.A. in English Literature (with a concentration in dramatic literature) from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn. and an MFA in performance from the University of Connecticut at Storrs.
“To be or not to be, that is the question.” Neiman will work with each participating school in developing their productions and a better understanding of the Bard’s powerful linguistic legacy and its relevancy and connection to contemporary themes.
“The play’s the thing.” For more information, call Pistarckle Theater at 775-7877. Interested members of the community are invited to attend, tickets are $5.
The event is sponsored by the Law Enforcement Protection Commission, the Lana Vento Charitable Trust and the V.I. Council on the Arts.
