Arts Alive Presents Concert in the Garden Featuring Cellist Kalin Ivanov

Kalin Ivanovis a prominent soloist, recitalist, chamber musician and recording artist. He has gained recognition as an artist whose dramatic urgency and expressive tone is matched by his deep, emotional and poetic performing style. “A solo, cello recital is very unusual for Arts Alive,” explained Lynn Berry, executive director of Arts Alive. “We feel the quality of his musicianship and the passion of his personality will make his concert a rare treat for our audience.”

Born in Bulgaria and educated in the U.S., Ivanov holds a Master’s of Music degree from Brooklyn College Conservatory, where he studied cello with Marion Feldman. He has participated in master classes given by distinguished cellists such as David Soyer, Nathaniel Rosen, Steven Doane, Laurence Lesser, Anatoly Krastev and others. In 1999, he won the C.W. Post Chamber Music Festival Concerto Competition.
Tickets for the Ivanov concert, which will begin at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27, are $30.
This season, Arts Alive is introducing a pre-concert, “The Prelude,” a $25 tapas buffet and jazz performance to be held before the concert from 6-7:30 p.m. The jazz ensemble will feature local professional and student jazz musicians. Reservations are recommended. The pre-concert and the concert are $55. Tickets are available at Tillett Gardens in the Arts Alive office, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
