The Office of the Lieutenant Governor reminds business owners of the June 30, 2017, deadline to pay franchise taxes and file their corresponding franchise tax and annual reports, along with financial statements, to the Division of Corporations and Trademarks, without penalty. Business entities that must comply with this requirement are corporations, LLP, LLLP and LLC. Reports and payments should be submitted to the following locations:
St. Croix – Government House in Christiansted
St. Thomas – Builders Emporium behind Schneider Regional Medical Center
St. John – Office of the Tax Assessor at the Islandia Building
To afford every business owner the opportunity to pay franchise taxes and to receive documents in a timely way, Lt. Gov. Osbert E. Potter has also announced a suspension of the Wednesday closure at the Division of Corporations and Trademarks on June 28 and July 5. Reports and payments may be postmarked on or before the June 30 deadline to the division to avoid a penalty assessment for late filing. The weekly Wednesday closures will resume on July 12.
For more information on the proper documents each business entity is required to file annually, business owners are encouraged to contact the division on St. Croix at 773-6449 or on St. Thomas at 776-8515.
