Reinaldo Morone, 44 of St. Thomas, was sentenced Wednesday to 60 months in prison for conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine, acting U.S. Attorney Joycelyn Hewlett announced.
District Court Judge Curtis V. Gomez also sentenced Morone to serve five years of supervised release, pay a $100 special assessment and perform 400 hours of community service.
Morone pleaded guilty Dec. 12 to conspiracy to possess with the intent to distribute cocaine. According to the plea agreement, on Oct. 20, Morone attempted to sell to an individual approximately four kilograms of a white powdery substance that tested positive for cocaine.
The case was investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration and prosecuted and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Sigrid M. Tejo-Sprotte.
