Helen M. Reed Dies at 83

Helen M. Reed died on Monday, March 27, in Flushing, Michigan. She was 83 years old.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Annie Jane Knight Breland; father, Earl Breland; stepmother, Garnet Breland; and husband, Leonard G. Reed Jr.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, April 27, at St. Andrews Episcopal Church.

Helen M. Reed is survived by her daughters: Michelle A. Bowman of Michigan and Anngia M. Wood of Virginia; son in-law, Carter V. Wood; son of heart, Edward Gordon; parents-in-law: Irma Harris-Reed and Leonard G. Reed Sr.; sister of heart, Marguerite “Cissi” Everett Werts; special friends: Ophelia Dennis and Harriet Hamilton; special cousin, Vera Mae Gilmore; godchildren: Jennifer S. Werts, Florisa E. Hamilton-Sprauve and Kory Davis; as well as many other family and friends too numerous to mention along with the Eta Phi Beta sorority sisters, special friends, former co-workers located in the Virgin Islands, Mississippi, and abroad.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be sent in memory of Helen M. Reed to the American Heart Association at 7272 Greenville Avenue Dallas, TX 75231 (214-570-5978) or a charity of your choice related to children or educational causes.

Arrangements are under the care of Hurley Funeral Home and Cremation Center of St. Thomas, St. John, St. Croix and Tortola.
